Treatment of a Patient with a Knee Tumor Using Interventional Radiology
For the first time, this method was performed at Shafa Yahyaeian Hospital.
This treatment was carried out on a young patient who was suffering from osteoid osteoma in the right knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Rikhtegar and his team in the CT scan unit, and the patient was transferred to the ward in a stable condition.
Interventional radiology is performed in two hospitals affiliated with Iran University of Medical Sciences, namely Shafa Yahyaeian and Firouzgar hospitals.
In the interventional radiology method, using imaging techniques and special needles, some of these cysts and tumors are easily drained with minimal complications. Compared to surgery, this method has higher precision and effectiveness, and a shorter recovery period.
